With deep divided lobes 'Rex' is a fast-growing, exotic and architectural woody shrub bearing huge, deeply lobed, fresh green leaves up to 60cm across. Creamy pompoms of flowers are produced in large sprays in autumn, followed by black fruit if kept in a sheltered spot. A wonderful plant for jungle schemes. It can lose some of its leaves in winter if there is a hard frost or in more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new foliage appears again in spring.
